Minister Marcia Stokes is a saved, sanctified, satisfied, Holy Ghost filled child of God. She is the daughter of Deacon James Stokes and Dr. Almeta Sturdivant Stokes. Marcia was born and raised in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior while attending Faith United Missionary Baptist Church, New Carrollton, MD. She accepted her call into the ministry in 1996 while attending New Liberation A. M. E. Church, Landover, MD. At the prompting of the Holy Spirit, Marcia launched out into the deep in 2001 and established Marcia Stokes Ministries, Inc. Dr. Bennie Calloway licensed Marcia to preach the Gospel in 2002. Marcia was re-licensed by Pastor Keith D. Brooks (All Nations Life & Praise Cathedral) and ordained by Pastor Nathan Butler (Rightous Church of God) in 2006.
As an evangelist, Marcia has been blessed of God to minister to a vast number of people in the USA, Germany, England, Japan and in Kenya, Africa. She is a highly sought after minister, teacher, conference/retreat speaker, workshop leader and worship leader. Her ministry of exhortation, teaching, deliverance and healing has helped many develop a closer walk with God. However, her ministry is not limited to church settings, retreats and conferences. Marcia has also ministered effectively in senior citizens settings and outreaches; to people who were homeless as well as those in business.
God has blessed Marcia with the gift of teaching. She began working in the computer industry in 1982. During her career, she has trained all types of people including adults with hearing impairments, visual impairments and adults who are totally blind. In 1991, Marcia branched out on her own as an Independent Consultant. Shortly thereafter, she founded MICROCOMPUTER SYSTEMS SPECIALISTS, INC. After managing the business for six years, she joined forces with SRA International, Inc. to manage their international training program for the Legal Division. In 2000, God strategically moved her to Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy, the fourth largest law firm in Atlanta, GA where she was responsible for managing all firm-wide training. Currently, Marcia works full-time in ministry and part-time as a contract trainer.
Since Marcia realizes that much of her success in life has been linked with inspiration she has received from heroes and heroines, she speaks to encourage others to achieve. She has presented inspirational speeches in such diversified settings as Church Sponsored Career Days, the Black Data Processing Association (BDPA), TESST (a technical training school) and the American Business Women's Association (ABWA). She has also been an invited speaker who has presented her story to youth who are endeavoring to pursue their dreams and reach beyond their limits.
Ministry is a lifestyle for Marcia. She has worked as a mentor to teenage women with the Rites of Passage program at Ebenezer A. M. E. Church and as a John Hope Elementary school mentor through the Everybody Wins! reading program. She also sits on the Everybody Wins! Advisory Board. Marcia is also the founder and president emeritus of the Prince Georges County, MD affiliated chapter of the GO-ON-GIRL! Bookclub. Her ministry involvement further includes participation in the intercessory prayer ministry, singles ministry and music ministry, as well as teaching an adult women's Sunday School class and co-coordinating Community Impact Day, church anniversary celebrations and other Evangelism Outreach activities.
Marcia is a student at Mount Moriah Institute of Biblical Studies. She also serves as the Singles Minster at All Nations Church of God under the direction of Pastor Keith D. Brooks.
